Cradled by olive trees and bathed in the evocative light of southern Italy, Trullo Colorato offers a genuine taste of Puglian life. Surrounded by two hectares of Mediterranean flora, the air here is rich with the scent of herbs. Every detail is considered, every space a quiet tribute to tradition and refinement. Natural textures, pale hues and curated simplicity create an atmosphere that is both grounding and elevated.

At the centre of the garden, a secluded pool reflects the changing light, flanked by dry stone walls and the gentle hum of cicadas. Indoors, whitewashed alcoves, artisan finishes and essential comforts come together with understated elegance. The spaces feel as though they’ve always belonged to the land, yet offer all the calm assurance of modern design.

Begin your morning with a breakfast on the terrace, followed by a stroll through the garden or perhaps a gentle dip. The rest of the day might bring a cooking lesson with a local chef, a private sailing excursion along the Ionian coast or a visit to a historic winery in nearby Manduria, birthplace of the famous Primitivo. Come evening, the stars return to a sky still unspoilt by city light.

Located near the characterful town of Maruggio, Trullo Colorato offers the best of rural serenity and coastal proximity. Less than 2km away, wander through Maruggio’s old lanes, then head just minutes south to reach the Parco delle Dune di Campomarino, a coastal reserve of wild dunes and soft, pale sands. From here, beaches unfurl in both directions, from hidden coves to lively harbour towns, all kissed by the crystalline Ionian Sea.

Further afield, whether it’s a cultural day trip to Taranto’s old quarter or a scenic drive through the baroque streets of Lecce, Trullo Colorato places you within reach of Puglia’s most treasured gems. For those drawn to nature, heritage and a slower rhythm of life, this Puglian hideaway captures the soul of the region.
