Set among the Languedoc countryside with the Pyrénées shimmering on the horizon, Maison de la Malepère is a bright and spacious home on the edge of the charming village of Cailhau. Designed by a local architect, this contemporary villa offers generous interiors filled with natural light and plenty of room to unwind both indoors and out with its gorgeous swimming pool.

The living spaces flow effortlessly on the ground floor, from the striking glass and metal staircase to two comfortable lounges and an open dining area that spills out onto the garden terrace. Thoughtfully decorated and well proportioned, the house feels stylish yet understated. Lavender borders the terrace where meals can be enjoyed al fresco, and the gentle scent carries through to the pool area beyond. With its 10-metre swimming pool, shaded dining terrace and sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, the garden is made for slow afternoons and long summer evenings.

This holiday abode accommodates up to eight guests across four attractive double bedrooms, each with an en-suite. Two of the upstairs rooms open onto private terraces, perfect for morning coffee in the sun or a quiet evening aperitif.

From your doorstep, it’s less than a 5-minute stroll to the village bar where locals gather for casual meals and a glass of wine. Essentials are within a short drive in Belvèze-du-Razès, while Limoux and Carcassonne offer bustling markets, lively cafés and a taste of Occitanie’s rich culture and good wine. The walled UNESCO listed cité of Carcassonne, with its summer festivals and cobbled lanes, lies just half an hour away.

For those seeking a relaxed and scenic base with a touch of modern flair, this is a home where life moves gently with the sun.
